A modern international aerotropolis rises

In 2013, Zhengzhou Airport Economic Zone was approved by the State Council, the first national airport economic experimental zone was officially set up, allowing Zhengzhou to embrace the blue sky and step into the aviation era of "walking in the clouds"

The Zhengzhou Hangkonggang Railway Station opened in June 2022, which is an effective witness of the rapid development of Zhengzhou high-speed railway.

From a small town with an area of less than 20 square kilometers and a population of less than 200,000 10 years ago, the small town has become a modern, international aviation city with a built-up area of more than 100 square kilometers, whose infrastructure covers more than 220 square kilometers with a population of nearly 900,000.

In 2021, the GDP of the Zhengzhou Airport Economic Zone reached 117.3 billion yuan, with an average annual growth rate of 15.3 percent compared with 2012. The import and export of foreign trade reached 524.6 billion yuan, ranking fourth among all kinds of development zones in China, with an average annual growth rate of 12.6 percent.
