Founded in 1852, the Victoria & Albert Museum (V&A Museum for short) is one of the world's top art and design museums, and its collection brings together top design masterpieces from around the world.

英国维多利亚与艾尔伯特博物馆(Victoria & Albert Museum)，简称V&A博物馆，成立于1852年，是世界上顶级的艺术与设计博物馆之一，其藏品汇聚了来自世界各地的顶级设计精品。

Masterpieces in Miniature：Treasures from the Rosalinde and Arthur Gilbert Collection exhibited in Zhengzhou showcasing 90 sets of exquisite works of art collected by the famous Gilbert couple, this is the first time that the Gilbert Fine Works Exhibition will be exhibited in China, which provides a quite rare opportunity, which lets Zhengzhou visitors immerse themselves in the gorgeous world of European luxury goods, while closely observing the rare materials and exquisite craftsmanship used to make these collections. According to the introduction, this is also a project of the second Sino-British contemporary art and literature exhibition "#ReConnect”2021 UK-china Contemporary Culture Festival ", to promote cultural exchanges between China and Britain.

此次在郑州展出的微观之作——英国V&A博物馆馆藏吉尔伯特精品展，展示了著名收藏家吉尔伯特夫妇收藏的90件套精美艺术品，这是吉尔伯特精品展首次来中国展出，这提供了一个颇为难得的机会，让郑州观众沉浸于绚丽的欧洲奢侈品世界中，同时近距离观察制作这些藏品的珍奇材料与精湛工艺。据介绍，这也是第二届中英当代艺文展演“连接·重启”( #ReConnect)的一个项目，呼应其“人与自然”的主题，助力中英文化交流。

Some exhibits in the exhibition have strong Chinese elements, reflecting the miniature of ancient China's foreign trade through the Maritime Silk Road, confirming the footsteps of China connecting the world for thousands of years.

展览中部分展品有着浓郁的中国元素，映射出古代中国经由海上丝绸之路对外贸易的缩影，印证着千年来中国联通世界的脚步。

The bouquet is not a painting, but is made of tiny pieces of stained glass. Arthur Gilbert coined the term "micromosaic" and built one of the three largest collections of miniature mosaics in the world (the other two are in the Vatican and the Hermitage). From precious jewelry to extraordinary paintings, Gilbert's collection forms a remarkable genre and style.

In the 16th century, gold jewelry was often combined with exotic natural treasures, including wild goat horns, nautilus shells and ostrich eggs, and made into exquisite objects by artists to celebrate the wonders of nature. They were often displayed in the treasure vaults of princes and nobles to show their culture and noble status.
