Zhengzhou International【走近郑州历史名人】诗圣杜甫

Located in the middle of heaven and earth, Zhengzhou is nurtured by the Yellow river. Since ancient times, herds of influential statesmen, thinkers, scientists and writers borned here. They either worked for the government or wrote books, highlighting their times with their insights, creations and ideas.

位居天地之中、黄河之滨的郑州，受大河哺育、“天中”滋养，自古以来就涌现出众多影响深远的政治家、思想家、科学家、文学家等各领域杰出人才，他们或为政一方，或著书立说，用自己的见解、创造和思想为所处时代打上了一片片“高光”。

Take copper as a mirror, one can be dressed; take people as a mirror,one can judge gains and losses. Maybe we will have new gains when we get close to these famous people in Zhengzhou's history again.

以铜为鉴，可以正衣冠; 以人为鉴，可以明得失。当我们再次走近郑州历史上的这些名人，或许会有新的收获。

As an icon period in the history of Chinese ancient literature, the creation of Tang poetry is still hard to exceed. Du Fu, who was born in Gongyi, Zhengzhou in 712, is regarded as a "giant" and a saint among poets in the history.

作为中国古代文学发展史上的一座高峰，唐诗所达到的高度至今人们都难以逾越。而712年出生在郑州巩义的杜甫，则是这座高峰上令人仰视的“巨人”、诗人中的圣人。

When search “Du Fu” on Baidu.com, the entries including “38 excellent works by Du Fu”, “10 famous Sentences by Du Fu”, “17 famous verses by Du Fu” and so on appeared on the page.

在百度上搜索“杜甫”二字，“杜甫佳作38篇”“杜甫十大经典名句”“杜甫最有名气的17首七律”等词条令人目不暇接。佳作太多，令人一时难以确定究竟哪首是他的代表作。

Du Fu travel around the country in his eary ages, and failed to the officer-selecting system. He failede again at his 35 in Changan, and even underappreciated later. Seeing the extravagance of the upper class in the Tang Dynasty, Du Fu discovered the crisis. In the 14th year of Tianbao, the rebellion of An Shi broke out and Tongguan fell. Du Fu moved from place to place successively. His personal experience made him see a lot of life that he could not see when he was proud.

少年时代，杜甫曾先后游历大江南北，其间曾应举不第。35岁以后，他先在长安应试，又落第;后来也曾向皇帝献赋、向贵人投赠，官场还是不得志。目睹唐朝上层社会的奢靡，杜甫发现了其中的危机。天宝十四年，安史之乱爆发，潼关失守，杜甫先后辗转多地，亲身经历让他看到了很多在得意时看不到的人生。

Like many great artists, Du Fu was not accepted during his lifetime. Before that, people liked to sing praises of rivers, mountains and ideals, while he cares more about the mass and focused too much on village women and poor people ,. What he said revealed the truth of reality, just like the child in the fairy tale Emperor's New Clothes.

和很多伟大艺术家一样，杜甫在世时并不被认可和接受。而此前人们喜欢歌颂大好河山、歌颂理想，而他把太多的笔触对准了村妇、贫民、寒士，对准了万千大众，他说的那些揭露现实的真话，就像《皇帝的新衣》里那个孩子。

After the middle and late Tang Dynasty, some people realized the value of Du Fu. Many poets' works were influenced by him. More and more great writers found du Fu this "bosom friend". As Wen Tianxiang said, "Where I want to speak, Zimei is the first to speak".

中晚唐后，也有人认识到了杜甫的可贵，很多诗人的作品中，都有了杜甫的影子;越来越多的大文学家找到了杜甫这个“知音”。如文天祥说，“凡吾意所欲言者，子美先为代言之”。

There are many poets in Tang Dynasty, but Du Fu, the "great realist poet" is neck and neck with Libai to some extent and has never been surpassed.

唐代诗人很多，“伟大现实主义诗人”杜甫的地位却从未有人超越，最多有诗仙李白与他“各表一枝”。究其原因，在于他并不沉溺于个人“小我”才华和情感的宣泄。

In 2012, the 1,300th anniversary of Du Fu's birth, he suddenly became "busy" online. Du Fu's tomb in Gongyi hometown is also visited by people -- thousands of years later, people still cherish him.

2012年，杜甫诞辰1300周年，他突然在网络上“忙”了起来;“杜甫故里”巩义的杜甫墓前，也时有后人探视的足迹——漫漫千年过后，人们还在怀念他。
